Under 5s Nature Play Sessions - Please pre-book to ensure your space!
This Session's Theme: Spot the Ladybird
Join us for a free nature play session designed especially for children under 5 and their grown-up. Spend time exploring and playing together in the natural environment through a variety of hands-on activities. Sessions vary but may include nature observation and identification, crafts, storytelling, singing, puppets, games and sensory play, all designed to encourage curiosity, creativity and a love of the outdoors.
Before You Book
These sessions are free to attend, thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.
Sessions are for children under 5 only.
One accompanying adult per child. Adults are encouraged to take part and experience the session alongside their child.
Advance booking is essential as places are limited.
Please only book a ticket if you intend to attend. If you can no longer make it, please email info@gunpowdermills.com so we can offer your place to another family.
On the Day
Arrive at 1:00pm to allow time for toilet visits, the walk to the workshop area, and to settle in.
Session: 1:15pm–2:00pm (45 minutes)
All sessions take place outdoors, so please dress yourself and your little one appropriately for the weather.
As part of our evaluation, you may be invited to provide feedback about your experience.
Please do not bring food or snacks into the session. The activities last for just 45 minutes, and children will be actively exploring and handling natural materials, so their hands may become muddy or dirty. If your child needs a drink, please bring a water bottle.
Photographs may be taken during sessions for promotional and evaluation purposes. These will not include faces, only the backs of heads or hands taking part in activities.
Whether you already love spending time outdoors or are looking for ideas to help your little one connect with nature, everyone is welcome. We especially encourage local families who would like to build their confidence exploring and playing in nature together to join us.
