Group Visits

Want to arrange a private visit for your group? Our friendly staff and volunteers can tailor a group visit to your requirements, welcoming your guests to the Gunpowder Mills and ensuring that the visit is a great one.

Ideal for a one-day or half-day visit, you can immerse yourself in history and nature for a unique, one-of-a-kind day out.

Group bookings can be made on weekdays at any time of year, subject to availability.

Activities

We have some amazing abandoned architecture, fascinating exhibitions, and informative tours to keep you busy on your big day out. When visiting with your group, you will get:

  • Welcomed with refreshments of tea, coffee and biscuits, and an introduction to our site.

  • A Guided Tour of the out-of-bounds areas of our 170-acre site on our tractor-trailer.

  • A tour of our recently restored Grade I factory building and Rocket Vault collection.

  • Pre-booked buffet lunch if desired (additional £10 per head)

  • A talk on our armoury collection and time to explore our Main Exhibition (covering the full history of our site) at your own pace.

  • Additional activities can be arranged on request

Group Visits

We offer special rates and optional extras for groups of 10 people or more.

  • £25* Per Person for entry to the site inclusive of all activities listed above.

    The minimum charge is equivalent to a group of 15 paying visitors.

    Additional £10 for catered buffet lunch, although groups are very welcome to bring their own packed lunch if desired.

    *This pricing applies to private group visits only (when site is closed to general public).

  • The terrain of our visitor area is flat and wheelchair accessible (although some surfaces are uneven). Our Tractor Trailer seats around 20 people - one four-seat bench can be removed to accommodate one wheelchair user per tour. We have two wheelchair-accessible toilets on site.

  • All groups are different and so some wish to spend longer on site than others. All timings are for guidance only...

    • Introductory talk - 15 minutes

    • Film - 15 minutes (allow 25)

    • Exhibitions and outdoor visitor area - 30 minutes to 1 hour

    • Tractor Trailer Guided Tour - 45 minutes (allow one hour)

    • The Gunpowder Railway - trip takes approx. 30 minutes (allow 40 minutes)

    • Armoury Tour - 25 minutes
