Rocket Launch Challenge
Time: Half-day (10:15 am – 12:00 pm or 12:45 pm – 2:30 pm)
Cost: £80 per class
Curriculum links:
Science: Forces, Motion, Gravity, Air resistance, Working scientifically (observing, predicting, testing, recording results)
Maths: Measuring and recording data, Interpreting results,
Pupils will take part in an exciting rocket launch session, exploring the science of flight through real air-powered rockets. Students will learn how air pressure creates thrust and how forces such as gravity and air resistance affect how rockets travel.
Before launching, pupils will visit our rocket display to examine real examples of British rocket design, helping them understand how rockets have been developed and used in engineering and space exploration.
Pupils will launch rockets using an air-powered launcher and observe how far they travel. They will then discuss what affects a successful launch and, if time allows, measure and record results to compare performance.
This action-packed workshop is a fun and engaging way to bring STEM learning to life for KS1, KS2 and KS3 learners.
