Explore science, engineering, and history with our Tractor Trailer and Exhibition Visit at the Gunpowder Mills, a unique historic industrial site with a fascinating story.

Students begin with a guided tractor-trailer ride around our 170-acre site, taking in historic buildings, waterways, and natural landscape, while learning about how the site once operated and its role in industry and innovation.

The experience links to science learning through discussion of materials, states of matter, and simple chemical changes, encouraging pupils to think like scientists by observing, questioning, and exploring how science impacts real-world industry.

The visit continues in our Main Exhibition, where interactive displays bring the site’s history to life and highlight key scientific and engineering developments.

This engaging trip combines outdoor exploration with curriculum-linked learning, helping pupils connect science and history in a real-world setting.
